Virtualisation is quite rightly the hot ICT topic of the day. Rarely does a single concept change the face of computing so drastically, and offer so many benefits to such a wide audience.

Whilst the technology is certainly not new, it's only in the last few years that we've seen it become truly robust enough to enable the virtualisation of a wide array of production environments. In addition to providing significant potential cost savings through the better utilisation of resources, it enables the rapid deployment of new environments, fully controlled scalabilty and incredible failover (DR/BC) capabilities, some of which are only beginning to emerge.
